Body Art Establishments and Body Art Certification

Regulations

The Body Art Unit is responsible for the enforcement Article 14 of the Suffolk County Sanitary Code. The purpose of Article 14 is to protect the public health by establishing minimum standards for the regulation of Body Art Establishments in an effort prevent communicable and non-communicable disease. Any individual that performs Body Art within the County of Suffolk must obtain a Body Artist Certificate issued by the Department, and all body art procedures must be performed within a licensed Body Art Establishment.
